Generate high-quality and exclusive attention

Focus on sustainability

The Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) is part of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres and conducts application-oriented basic research in the fields of energy, health and matter.

The HZDR faces up to the great challenges of our time and sees it as its task to provide knowledge and technology for the next generations.

The project

In mid-2024, the Executive Board of the HZDR in Dresden planned to create a showroom in the foyer of the lecture theatre building in order to make research results that have been successfully transferred to application visible to visitors in an attractive way.

The company kursiv | text - objekt - raum GmbH from Dresden was brought on board to plan this project. When it comes to innovative exhibition concepts and target group-orientated communication ideas, these are the right specialists.

The task

Several elegant, high-quality information boards were to be created to describe individual technologies. The boards were to be flexible, i.e. for reasons of sustainability, the topics presented on them were to be able to change. The panels themselves were to be durable and reusable.

The original plan was to use drywall construction for the exhibition walls. However, according to Ms Giebel, who is responsible for technology marketing at the HZDR, the original exhibition plans were rejected in favour of a lightweight, exclusive form of presentation that protruded as little as possible into the room.

Together with the interior designer from the company kursiv | text - objekt - raum GmbH, Ms Weisser, solutions were developed. A slim and flexible solution was needed and one consideration was to suspend panels from the ceiling. In addition to the fact that escape routes had to be kept clear in a foyer, another reason for hanging panels was that suitable suspensions were already available. So, in the truest sense of the word, "the thread was picked up".

A solution for the placement was also quickly found: the large window wall proved to be ideal for positioning the panels according to the requirements.

But what about in the dark season? Light was needed to create an effective atmosphere - that's what we needed!

A lighting planner friend from Dresden gave kursiv | text - objekt - raum GmbH the tip that HANSEN would be the ideal partner for luminous panels. This led to contact with the sales representative Steffen Tschernich from HANSEN. He responded quickly and professionally and presented samples, so that a suitable product was found in a short space of time.

The frameless luminous panel with a construction depth of just 21 mm was required. Slim and narrow was what was required and HANSEN was exactly right. These luminous panels also make it possible to change the films designed by the graphic designer. And the illuminated panels can be used again and again.

Realisation and execution

HANSEN was able to score points not only in terms of sustainability and slim construction depth.

At the end of 2024, the deadline for the construction of the exhibition was approaching. The luminous panels were commissioned. HANSEN responded promptly, manufactured at short notice and delivered on time at the end of January 2025.

The luminous panels were delivered fully assembled so that all that remained to be done was to hang them up. The supplied suspension system fitted perfectly into the Helmholtz Centre's system, which was also unique.

The result is impressive. There has already been positive feedback, the panels have been well received and there are plans to realise this in other areas - of course with the frameless luminous panels from HANSEN.

4 frameless luminous panels, each 1,700 x 1,000 mm for suspension
Two rows of LEDs each with 12 mm LED spacing
LED colour: white 6500K
Version: 12 V technology
Power consumption: 44.2 W

Résumé

Everyone involved agrees that the frameless luminous panels from HANSEN are the optimum solution. The HANSEN product clearly stands out from the competition thanks to its homogeneous light distribution, slim design and fast delivery time.
