WINX Tower, Frankfurt

Spectacular LED façade installation

At lofty heights, Neon Zentgraf used LED technology from hansen to create spectacular façade lighting for the WINX Tower in Frankfurt.

The project

Thanks to its flexible applications, LED technology has long established itself in architecture. In Frankfurt’s financial district, illuminating prestigious office buildings with sophisticated lighting has become a real trend. The WINX Tower was also to receive an artistic lighting concept.

The concept was developed by planners together with specialists in architectural lighting and commissioned by general contractor BAM Deutschland to the lighting advertising specialist Neon Zentgraf.

The task

The plans called for crown-shaped façade lighting on the building’s technical floor, incorporating a stylised WINX “W”. But that was not all: in addition to static lighting, three different lighting programmes were also required.

The implementation

For a project of this scale, Klaus Zentgraf, Managing Director of Neon Zentgraf, did not want to take any risks and once again relied on his long-standing partner from northern Germany:

“With Hansen, I know that products are developed on the basis of proven technology and are free of teething problems. We also receive first-class technical support and there is always a willingness to work together to find the best solution.”

Questions such as how the cables could be routed most effectively and how the profiles would behave as the façade moves had to be answered. To test the installation under realistic conditions and create a meaningful visualisation, a dedicated façade mock-up was built. Comprehensive technical documentation was also prepared in parallel.
