TECHquadrat Werbetechnik, Austria
Fuel station and accent lighting
For the new Felbermayr headquarters in Austria, TECHquadrat Werbetechnik worked together with hansen to develop customised lighting solutions for the adjacent filling station and the main building. Two different requirements – one common approach: tailor-made LED technology from in-house production.
The Filling Station
Safety and bright, homogeneous illumination were the key requirements for the new diesel filling station. Around 200 lux were specified. However, the cassette structure defined by the architect for the ceiling could not be illuminated satisfactorily using conventional spotlights.
TECHquadrat took over the lighting design and turned to hansen for a customised solution. After initial lighting calculations and samples, it quickly became clear that the hansen Miniprofil Type 960 was the right choice.
For this project, the profile was equipped with specially adapted LEDs. By operating the LEDs at 100 mA instead of the usual 25 mA, the light output could be significantly increased.
The profiles were integrated directly into the ceiling structure as narrow lines. The result: powerful, uniform illumination without visible LED light points.
Maximum Light Output in a Compact Design
The biggest challenge was the high amount of light required. Thanks to its in-house production capabilities, hansen was able to customise the light output to meet the specific requirements of the project.
The Miniprofil Type 960 emits light directly downwards, providing bright and homogeneous illumination across the entire filling station area.
At night, the filling station itself becomes an architectural highlight: viewed from a distance, the illuminated ceiling almost resembles a spaceship preparing for take-off.
The Headquarters
At the same time, the façade lighting for the main building was developed. Distinctive blue recesses were to be illuminated indirectly – with one important requirement: the blue colour should appear as consistent as possible during both day and night.
For this purpose, TECHquadrat produced true-to-scale façade elements in its own workshop and tested different profiles, LED colours and covers.
The right solution was once again found at hansen: the compact Miniprofil Type 911 with blue LEDs and a white cover.
Precise Lines of Light for the Façade
The Miniprofil was integrated into a channel running from top to bottom, creating a fine, continuous line of light. The white cover ensures a homogeneous appearance while keeping individual LED points invisible.
This clearly defines the architecture of the headquarters at night and gives the blue façade recesses exactly the desired appearance.
The Result
Two different applications, two customised lighting solutions: at the filling station, the hansen Miniprofil Type 960 provides high light output and uniform illumination. At the headquarters, the Miniprofil Type 911 with blue LEDs creates precise architectural accents.
Both solutions are durable, energy-efficient and precisely tailored to the requirements of the building.
