Elevator lighting
For a sophisticated cabin lighting solution, hansen supplied the right LED technology for the Düsseldorf-based elevator manufacturer Windscheid + Wendel.
The Project
Windscheid + Wendel is a long-established, family-run company that has been manufacturing elevators since 1900. With around 150 employees, the company specializes in individually manufactured elevators for demanding architectural and technical requirements.
A long-standing cooperation with hansen had already existed indirectly through a supplier in the field of illuminated ceilings. For a project at the Kö-Bogen shopping centre in Düsseldorf, this cooperation was intensified.
The Right Lighting Solution
The challenge: patterned cabin surfaces had to be illuminated absolutely evenly and homogeneously.
While the LED panels installed behind the surfaces had produced a good result in the original installation, replacing them later proved much more difficult. Achieving a consistent appearance across the patterned surfaces was a particular challenge.
Windscheid + Wendel therefore contacted hansen directly. A suitable solution was quickly found: individually manufactured and pre-assembled LED light panels, precisely adapted to the requirements of the elevator cabins.
The Implementation
Due to the size of the cabins, several light panels were required for each wall. Different panel widths could have resulted in visible bright and dark areas. Shadows at the transitions between the individual panels also had to be avoided.
These special requirements were already taken into account during production at hansen in Haselund. The light panels could then be integrated precisely into the cabin walls.
The Result
The result is consistent, homogeneous illumination of the patterned cabin surfaces – without distracting differences in brightness or shadows at the transitions.
Thanks to customized production, expert advice and pre-assembled delivery, hansen was able to provide a solution precisely tailored to the specific requirements of elevator construction.
