Mature façade illumination

Located directly on the BAB 113 motorway, close to BER Airport, the BRAIN BOX extends over approximately 300 metres. The curved office and commercial complex, with its rounded shapes, courtyards and distinctive tower, was designed to showcase its unique architecture after dark as well.

The Project

NEON ZENTGRAF LICHTWERBUNG from Frankfurt was involved in the façade lighting planning as early as the construction phase. The concept called for flexible light bands that could be integrated precisely into the façade recesses and follow the numerous curves.

hansen swing~light proved to be the ideal solution. Its dimensions fit exactly into the designated recesses, while the flexible profile can follow both inward and outward curves. Various samples with different colour temperatures and covers were tested directly on the façade.

The Implementation

The installation was ultimately carried out by BOEHLKE Elektroinstallationen from Berlin. Due to minor changes to the façade construction, the mounting system was adapted and implemented using aluminium C-channels.

For the façade, hansen swing~light open without a cover was used. The deliberately visible LED light points give the façade its desired futuristic character.

The passages leading to the landscaped courtyards were also illuminated with swing~light. Here, the covered profile creates a homogeneous, continuous line of light. The profiles were integrated into specially milled recesses in the ceiling substructure.

All light profiles were individually pre-assembled by hansen and delivered ready for installation.

An impressive façade illumination that highlights the extraordinary architecture of the BRAIN BOX even after dark.
