The façade profile was implemented according to SJ Design

The Neckar Center Esslingen is prominently located along the B10, an important traffic route between Stuttgart and the surrounding region. At the beginning of 2024, the center’s exterior appearance was to be modernized and the dimensions of the building complex emphasized more effectively.

The project

Instead of the previous spotlights, a modern and uniform accent lighting system was to be created. The company SJ-Design from nearby Deizisau, specializing in innovative advertising technology, was commissioned with the lighting design.

For SJ-Design, it quickly became clear that the hansen façade profile offered the right solution. The profiles provide a homogeneous lighting effect, can be manufactured to customer-specific specifications and are available in individual lengths and with mitre cuts.

The right lighting solution

Using reference projects and samples, SJ-Design presented the façade profile to the management of the Neckar Center. In autumn 2024, the lighting was tested on site and compared directly with the existing spotlight system.

The result was convincing: The new linear lighting significantly enhanced the façade and created a much more modern appearance.

At the beginning of December 2024, the order was placed for around 200 metres of dimmable façade profile. The dimmable version allows the building management system to reduce the brightness at a later stage if required.

The implementation

The individually manufactured lighting was delivered on schedule on 23 January 2025, and installation began immediately.

The profiles were manufactured in different lengths and installed along the façade. The building was literally framed in light, while the entrance area was given additional emphasis through the contour lighting.

The new light lines blend harmoniously into the existing appearance and complement the existing illuminated Neckar Center logo.

The result

The new contour lighting gives the Neckar Center a modern and distinctive appearance. Particularly from a distance, the building is now much more prominent and has gained a stronger visual identity.

The customer is extremely satisfied with the result.
