CORONA PROTECTIVE SCREENS: NEW MATERIAL, PROVEN PROTECTION, ASSURED SUPPLY

The droplet protection for drivers and passengers in public transport is well received. Soon, the Corona protective shield "made in Schleswig-Holstein" will also be available for coaches.

More and more normality when travelling by bus: The new Corona protective shields for public transport buses are proving their worth in everyday use and are being used more and more frequently. To cope with the high demand, the two companies Foilsquare and Hansen have had to find new sources of material.

Two companies from Schleswig-Holstein have made it their business to make life easier in times of Corona and developed the Corona protective windows for public transport buses. And they are well received. So well that they had to look for new sources of supply soon after the product launch.

Corona protection made in Schleswig-Holstein

"Our infection screens are made of coated polycarbonate, a material rarely used before Corona, from a supplier in Sweden," says Martin Hansen, managing director of the Hansen company from Haselund in Schleswig-Holstein. Together with Foilsquare from Rendsburg, they developed the Corona protective shields and are constantly working on further models for different types of vehicles. "After we had equipped about 500 buses with the protective shields, the material reserves were used up," Hansen continues. "We quickly needed a new reliable source of supply."

This was found in Geesthacht, also in Schleswig-Holstein. Thus, the Corona safety screens are processed completely regionally. The company KRD Sicherheitstechnik GmbH (brand name "Kasiglas") processes the now increasingly produced coated polycarbonate directly on site in a factory near Lüneburg. "By establishing a partnership with our new supplier, we have also secured sufficient quantities of material, so we are and remain able to deliver," says Martin Hansen.

The new material used for the driver's windscreens has a general type approval from the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt) and can therefore be approved by testing institutes such as the TÜV. Each windscreen is marked with an individual number (paginated) and its manufacture can thus be traced.

More models - also for coaches

But not only the production department has its hands full these days. The sales department is also very busy. "We have already seen countless pay tables and driver's cabs, and yet a new variant is added every day," says Lasse Brehm, Managing Director of Foilsquare. "This spurs us on to continue and develop many more variants. Because we see that the protective screens are well received and really help employees and customers in everyday life."

New in the portfolio are also protective screens for drivers in coaches. This means that more and more long-distance travellers and employees of travel companies will soon be able to benefit from Corona protection. The protective discs are already being used by a number of companies such as Autokraft Schleswig-Holstein, Regionalverkehr Münsterland, Lüchow-Schmarsauer Eisenbahn, Rohde Verkehrsbetriebe, Stadtwerke Rüsselsheim and many others - and Corona protective discs are also already in use in other European countries.

"One ticket please"

The droplet protection marketed under the name D-Shield© by Hansen minimises the risk of infection between drivers and passengers and is a permanent and reliable solution. It thus enables the resumption of ticket sales. "One ticket please" - this is a phrase bus drivers can hear more often again. And: bus travel will become "normal" again. No more red barrier tape, which is more reminiscent of an accident, and no more plastic sheeting. Passengers can once again board the bus with the driver and buy their ticket directly on the bus.
